24th Annual Earth
Day
Parks & Preserves
Clean-up
Saturday, April 20, 2013, 9 a.m. - Noon
Friends of the Parks believes every day should be Earth Day. In order to come together as a community each spring, Friends of the Parks hosts its annual Earth Day Parks & Preserves Clean-up.
Join volunteers to clean and green a neighborhood park or preserve from 9:00AM - Noon on Saturday, April 20th. Dress appropriately for the weather. Please do not wear sandals or flip flops. Most sites will have extra work gloves - but you may want to bring your own to insure you have a pair. To participate in this event you must sign a waiver. T-Shirts will be given on a first come, first served basis.
Join an existing group as an individual volunteer or become a Site Captain. (Read below for Site Captain's responsibilities.)
Larger sites requesting additional volunteers include Busse Woods, Humboldt Park and Whistler Woods. Additional activities will be available at those sites including environmental education and recycling efforts.
This is a rain or shine event - please check the notes section on the current registered sites for more details about your local park. (Where to meet, specific time, contact if noted.)

Captain's please note this year, we are asking that you bring your own grocery bags from home to help with the clean up efforts. We've learned that the large bags we supply are too big for some of the smaller sites. We will still be supplying some large bags to all sites.
